“Ultrazone-DUAL” Electronic 40 Watt VHO Ultraviolet Sterilizer & 360 mg/hr Ozone Generator by Ultralife Reef Products Operating Principle: The “Ultrazone-DUAL” is an excellent choice for Freshwater, Saltwater and Pond applications. These units are watertight and utilize hard quartz sleeves for peak performance. The design also allows for Bulb replacement without the need to remove the unit from it’s installed position. This unit produces up to 360 mg/hr of ozone for aquarium purification as well as highly effective Ultraviolet Sterilization to help keep your aquarium in top-notch condition. Based on a 70,000 µW sec/cm2 (microwatt seconds per square centimeter) the unit is designed allowing flow rates up to 1000 GPH, these units are designed to be used with your favorite water pumps. By changing the flow rate through the UV unit you will change the effective “kill power” of the UV unit. For example: If you only allow 500 gph thru the unit, you will effectively increase the kill power to 140,000 µW sec/cm2 (microwatt seconds per square centimeter). We have included a chart to help you calculate your flow rate depending on the “kill power” needed for the corresponding Micro-Organisms. Waterborne Algae 15,000 to 30,000 µW sec/cm2 Common Bacteria 15,000 to 30,000 µW sec/cm2 Protozoa (Ich) 45,000 µW sec/cm2 Fungi 45,000 µW sec/cm2 “Standard” Model - Basic Operating Instructions: Both UV & Ozone production turn on & off simultaneously, 1. Open the Ultrazone-DUAL Unit by unscrewing both end caps 2. Gently slide the bulb into the Quartz Sleeve 3. Hand tighten the fittings / grommets that seal both ends of the Quartz Sleeve 4. Plug Unit in ORP Controller, Timer or GFCI grounded outlet 12. Turn on water pump with desired flow rate determined from above chart 13. Check for any leaks. Tighten clamps if necessary 14. If Bulb replacement is needed. Follow same general procedure in steps 1-5 For Quartz sleeve cleaning or replacement: Follow the same general procedure as in steps 1-4, then Unscrew plastic retaining rings around both ends of the quartz sleeve.
